I have inside word that Joel Osteen is under stress. It seems a woman has been stalking him in one manner or another. While precautions have been taken, these things can take their toll. Even Jesus found it necessary – and increasingly difficult – […]

Said Musa, guilty of Christianity, to be hanged within days
Our friends the Afghanis are set to hang a Christian brother for the dread crime of turning away from Islam, which he did eight years ago. We have spent precious blood, much toil, and a whole lot of money to bring this nation out […]
Representative Giffords shot dead -update: she’s alive and expected to pull through, praise God.
Word just came in that Congresswoman Giffords of Arizona has been shot dead, along with several others. I don’t know if there was political motivation behind this, or just a slightly purer form of mental illness, but this is a terrible event for this […]
A Prophetic Passover Message of Love from Messiah -Catherine Brown
An excellent message received via the ElijahList, dealing with different ways we can be hurt, and how to find the power to overcome and turn stumbling blocks into stepping stones. In Betrayal – “I Love You” While He was still speaking a crowd came […]
On the Cross, and in complete control
When he had received the sour wine, Jesus said, “It is completed!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. -John 19:30 When Jesus cried out, “It is finished”, He wasn’t saying that His personal ordeal was over. He was proclaiming that […]
Reflections on the change of year
I think the New Year holiday is a good time to reflect back on where we've been, where we are and where we're going. Jesus often exhorted the first disciples to "come apart to a desert place". We need to periodically change our mental scenery so that we can get a fresh perspective on ourselves.
Made like us, so we could be like Him
Had Jesus come merely to repopulate the earth with godly seed, none of the issues the devil had raised in his rebellion would have been resolved. And the new race could have fallen just as easily as had the first. But Jesus didn’t come to replace, He came to redeem. The Incarnation is only half the story, the other half being the Cross.
review: Destined for the throne, by Paul Billheimer
At 134 pages, Destined for the Throne is not a big book, yet it took me nine months to read it. What it lacks in length it more than makes up for in depth and power. I came across Destined while review-hopping at Amazon. […]
I’ve Updated ‘Hebrews 6: restoration of a fallen Christian’
I reworked my post from last April, concerning how the difficult passage in Hebrews 6 is really about restoring, rather than condemning, fallen Christians, and I think it now speaks more directly and powerfully to the issue. This is one of the hardest passages […]
America’s descent into Marxism
It’s amazing when more truth can be found in the editorial pages of Pravda than in those of the New York Times, but that’s exactly the state in which we find ourselves. The Pravda edit speaks of the systematic take-down of the American system […]
Fear and hatred, meet love
Persecution is raging against Christians, but the Gospel and its Kingdom is spreading nonetheless. Yesterday came yet another case of Islamic blasphemy laws, again in Pakistan, being used against Christians: Punjab, Muslim extremists burn church over alleged blasphemy case. According to these Sharia laws, […]
My neighbor’s dog
Discipline is necessary for maturity. We should not be discouraged at trials, because the Lord’s perfect love is behind his discipline. Several months ago a family moved in next door. We live on a lake, but their house is maybe 50 feet below mine, […]
Finding significance in God
I’ve been processing some pain lately, and I’ve felt the need to trace it to its root. When we have recurring spontaneous pain, it’s like the warning light on a car’s dashboard. It’s a sure sign that there’s something going on under the hood […]
review: Dating Jesus, by Susan Campbell
Dating Jesus: A Story of Fundamentalism, Feminism, and the American Girl Dating Jesus is very well written. Ms. Campbell is a bit younger than I, from a different part of the country, and of a different gender, but she is a great storyteller and […]
