Yet another Muslim atrocity has been committed, this time within our own military. There is so much to say here that I don’t know where to start.

Let’s start with the obvious. As he broke into calm, focused, calculated violence, the perpetrator at Fort Hood shouted Allahu Akbar, the Islamic war cry. Immediately, using the politically correct culture’s own criteria, we have a hate crime. Religion was a major component of this atrocity. And if it wasn’t the main component, it at least gave sanction.

Violence cannot be separated from Islam. It’s in its source book, the Koran, and it’s in the personal example left by Muhammad – a legacy of conquest, murder, rape, pillage, strategic lying, ruthless subjugation, sexual slavery, and forced conversion. When a Muslim gets serious about his faith, he turns to his prophet and the Koran for guidance, and this is what he finds. How do we then expect such a one to then act?

But, you say, Christianity also has its atrocities down through history! Indeed it does, and sickeningly so. But the difference is that every one of those atrocities was done in contradiction to the teachings and example left by Christ, who went to the Cross rather than advance, or even defend, himself. So when a Christian gets serious about his faith, and he turns to Christ and the New Testament, we should expect him to become forgiving, patient and non-violent. Violence, conquest, forced conversions and the like are irreconcilable to Christianity.

I’m not directing my criticism against peaceful Muslims. In following some of the brave Iranians who are standing up to the evil regime in their land, I was moved by hearts for God that were pure and noble. These people are not the problem. But we need to be clear: the religion they follow is not Islam. Knowingly or not, they have selectively screened out the violence of the Koran, and held on to the nobler parts of that very conflicted and self-contradictory book. These people need to be confronted with the true nature of Islam and with the true claims of Christ.

And even with Muslims who are jihadic, the Bible is clear that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against evil powers and principalities. Many of these people had the misfortune to be raised in an evil system. They have known only oppression all their lives, and now they are promised virgins for killing an enemy they have been taught to hate. Rather than hating back, we should count our blessings, most especially that of knowing the God of love, even if we must oppose them forcefully.

President George W. Bush’s greatest mistake after 9/11 was adopting the convenient politically correct notion that Islam is a religion of peace. It is this falsehood that creates cover for the stealth jihad, including multiculturally-driven unchecked immigration, that works insidiously against us. If you cannot define your enemy, you cannot defeat your enemy.

The West has a long and wonderful tradition of freedom of expression and worship. It is a tradition that was won at great cost, by lovers of God and freedom over a millennia. But never did those who fought for these rights intend to empower those who would rob us of our identity. And that is exactly what is happening, as clever, aggressive front men such as those at CAIR game the system, using our own laws and the dominant culture of political correctness against us.

President Obama has cautioned us “not to jump to conclusions”. Someone has rightly interpreted his true meaning to be, “do not form forbidden conclusions”. We already know this was yet another Islamic hate crime perpetrated against the innocent. We don’t have to jump to anything. The facts already have come to us.

This is the same Obama who actually entertained the criticism from a Pakistani Olympic representative that the U.S. wasn’t an “open” or “accessible” enough society. Obama apologized for our supposedly shameful condition in this regard and promised that we would try to do better. He spoke not a word against Pakistan’s continual stream of real atrocities against Christians, including the recent horrific burning alive of six innocents and many homes, or of its need to abolish the blasphemy and apostasy laws, which legalize persecution. With Obama, fixing blame is a one-way street that is headed in America’s direction.

So I don’t expect much from Mr. Obama in the way of defending what makes America and the West great, because he really doesn’t believe in these values. Recall that his wife’s only justification for being proud of her country came when her husband began to be successful in his run for its presidency, despite the privileged life she has led, including being the recipient of a $300,000 political plum job. Obama’s own disdain for the military was obvious in the press conference he held on the day of the shooting, which he opened with irrelevant, even glib remarks, before adopting a more somber tone and turning to the tragedy. His skillfully “calibrated” verbiage will never substitute for having a heart for this country and its military. That heart can’t be faked, and for all his mistakes, it is something that George W. Bush had.
