It’s amazing when more truth can be found in the editorial pages of Pravda than in those of the New York Times, but that’s exactly the state in which we find ourselves.

The Pravda edit speaks of the systematic take-down of the American system of free enterprise, hitting on these major steps:

• First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their “right” to choke down a McDonalds burger… than for their constitutional rights.
• Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different “branches and denominations” were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the “winning” side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another.
• The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America’s short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Weimar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.

Simplistic, perhaps, but essentially correct. Liberalism crept into our institutions slowly at first (and I hasten to add the media to the above list), but now the dam is breaking. Accordingly, we are seeing a massive response from people who are aware of what is being taken from us. Will it be enough and in time?

Our system is broken. I strongly suspect that elements of even the federal bureaucracy conspired to see Obama elected. Why else wouldn’t the Federal Elections Commission investigate and certify Obama’s Constitutional eligibility to run for the presidency? Why was Obama permitted to gather campaign funds on the Web without even the most basic fraud protections in place, so that illegal money, over the limits and from international sources, could easily be used, without attribution? Obama broke all fundraising records by a country mile – at the same time that George Soros was pledging to use as much of his ill-gotten billions as necessary to bring regime change to America.

We are finally succumbing to the weight of our own sin. While clearly the water carrier of the Left is the Democrat Party, the Republicans are not innocent either. George Bush spent like a drunken sailor, never vetoing a single bill until it was the Democrats running congress.

And last year during the campaign, when many saw clearly the socialist threat Obama posed to the nation, McCain ran from the problem, always seeking an imaginary conciliatory middle ground, until he saw too late that he had muddled his message irretrievably.

Conservatism doesn’t need to be compassionate; it already is. But it does need to be conservative. If the trumpet doesn’t sound a clear warning, no one prepares for battle. The doubleminded receive nothing from the Lord. When the foundations of our liberty are being assailed, it is no time for country-club politics.

This is not a party issue, it is a spiritual issue. The issue ultimately is whether we are going to take our God-given responsibility for supplying our own needs, or whether we will trust government to ration them out to us. Government makes a great servant but a lousy master. The Lord, on the other hand, is a Master who truly serves our best interests.

Playing the race card

If you want to see how tenaciously the not-so-beneficent Left will try to hold onto power, look at former president Carter’s ignominious statement of last week. Carter held that, not only was there criticism of Obama that was racial in nature, but that the “overwhelming” amount of it was.

I’ve been following this stuff very closely. The news articles, the town hall meetings, the protests, the Internet buzz. I cannot recall one single incident of racism in all of it. I’m sure there was some – we’re a big country – but to say it was significant, let alone “overwhelming”, is, in a word, a lie.

Stoking the flames of racial animosity will only inflame blacks and whites against each other, and is a tremendous disservice to the body politic. And as always, this is being done in the guise of helping the nation and its underprivileged.

It is a weak position that must repair to desperate defenses such as racism. And it is a sign of utter moral bankruptcy to go to such lengths. Mr. Obama is black. Therefore pictures of him will necessarily be black. It is getting to the point where any depiction of Obama that is not hagiographic will be deemed racist by his supporters that traffic in hypersensitivity.

I don’t care how many Bible classes Mr. Carter might teach. The Lord has strong words for those who divide the body:

Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?

If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple. – 1 Co 3:16-17

America is not strictly the body of Christ, but the two bodies affect each other. There are legitimate grounds for differences among ourselves, but citing racism when there is none is highly destructive. Mr. Carter is supposed to be a leader. Where is he leading us?

ACORN

Lastly, this week finally brought an ACORN scandal to the fore. During the campaign and afterward, mainstream media wouldn’t touch this extremely corrupt organization that works against America using taxpayer money. Yet two conservative individuals, acting on their own, found it easy to get the goods.

In defense, ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis sounded like the Hofstra coed who last week claimed rape – until a video surfaced showing her willing participation in the act. Both the coed and Ms. Lewis quickly changed their tune, and for the same reason.

But it doesn’t end there. ACORN’s own star lawyer and activist, Mr. Obama himself, on national TV now suddenly avers that he “didn’t even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money”.

Right. This is the Obama whose administration’s attorney general, Eric Holder, gave black thugs who intimidated Philadelphia voters with a nightstick a pass. He simply dropped all charges, even as Nancy Pelosi continues her “vigilante” characterizations of legitimate citizen protests against administration policies.

Obama was elected on the promise of being post-partisan and a post-racial. He was going to heal our land (and even the planet!). But even more than business-as-usual in the Capitol District, it seems like we’re flooded with an unprecedented level of dirty politics and racism.

Sorry to be blunt, but America, you were taken in by a smooth-talking, lying huckster, operating under cover of a supportive media, financed by people who hate this nation.

Can we get out of this mess? I don’t know, but our only chance to do so is to pray for the love of truth to sweep over the land. We need to take back our schools, our culture, our churches, our families. We need to start getting serious with the Lord, our true healer.
